We’ve never been much into planning weekly menus. But a month ago we decided to give it a serious try. Every Sunday morning after breakfast I look through my cookbooks and browse the net for inspiration. After discussing back and forth with my husband we decide the meals for the coming week. A grocery list is written and then we go grocery shopping.
I have to say that so far we’re sticking to the plan pretty well. It’s great to only have to go shopping once a week, in some periods we’ve been planning for only 1-3 days ahead and that was quite stressful and time consuming since we had to shop quite often. To make it more fun we’ve bought a blackboard and a liquid chalk pen so we can put the menu on display. I want to believe that it actually helps us to stick to the planned menu and it makes you look forward to the meals as it reminds you every time you pass by.
This week we’re eating:
Mon: Spicy lamb patties in pita bread with salad and yoghurt.
Tue: Tom Ka Ga with duck ( with roasted duck left overs from Sunday).
Wed: Spicy chorizo potatoes with fried egg.
Thu: Homemade pasta with tomato sauce.
Fri: Take out.
Sat: Chicken skewers with amazing satay sauce.
Sun: Teriyaki Salmon. Polish apple pancakes (racuchy z jablkami) for dessert.

This week’s menu:
This year’s pumpkins; 2 carved by F and 2 carved by me. The little pumpkin is homegrown and was regretfully the only pumpkin that I managed to grow. If you have any pumpkin growing tips, I would love to hear your tricks.
PS. And yes, as you can see all the snow has melted!
Doughnuts that I made some time ago, with various sprinkles and cherry glaze.
I tried a random doughnut recipe and the doughnuts were OK when consumed directly after frying. However two hours later they were really dry. Maybe one of my mistakes were to make them quite small, my doughnut cutter is smallish, but I did fry them rather quick to compensate. Does anyone out there have a great doughnut recipe for fried doughnuts?
I know I have not been very active with the blog this year. It has been a tough year but I have been thinking a lot about the blog and my dear readers. I really appreciate all emails and comments that you’re sending and I’m so thankful for your patience with my irregular updates. I have a huge backlog of recipes and restaurant visits that I will try to post during the beginning of next year.
I wish you all the best for the new year and that all your wishes will be fullfilled! I hope next year will be a wonderful and exciting year full of sweet treats for all of us!
This year we bought 2 kg of candy but not a single kid has shown up (yet) for trick or treating. But at least we had fun when carving pumpkins some days ago. I hope you’re all having a lovely day!
There is no such thing as fat and sugar free cupcakes, at least not edible. This super cute cupcake is very easy to crochet even if you’re a beginner. This was my first attempt crocheting since 6th grade and thanks to all tuturials on youtube it was almost a piece of cake:-) The cupcake was made using this pattern from Nimoe’s blog. Instead of stuffing it I decided to keep it as a kind of container, maybe for candy?
