Hmm… its tough to find here in New Zealand as well. We have ghee but I think it is different to European buttermilk. I always wanted to try making buttermilk pancakes.

This is usually available in the UK and not in Polish sections – buttermilk is a key ingredient for Irish soda bread.

The most obvious dairy product in Czech republic, called podmáslí. Why Sweden doesnt produce and sell it? Any reason?

W UK można znalezc maslanke, ale rzeczywiscie, z polskiego sklepu jest smaczniejsza ;). Albo zsiadle mleko, to dopiero rarytas!

It’s funny that you have been looking for buttermilk in Sweden since it’s everywhere there. I am from Sweden and it’s one of the things I miss the most when I am over seas. It’s called “fil” och “filmjölk” and is in the dairy section of all shops. It’s thicker than buttermilk and Swedes eat it for breakfast with cereal but it’s very similar to buttermilk.
