Wow! That's high! My younger cat would probably try that, but I hope my older cat wouldn't.

the more times he goes there the sleep, the higher the chances of his falling. its only a matter of time. you should put some kind of net or sculpture or something. take a look at The Cats' House by Bob Walker. its an amazing book of how the author created a gorgeous house accommodating his cats needs. it might give you some ideas.

cats just love those hard to get to perches! i'd be worried too but cats, especially older cats, seem to be pretty cautious. my kitty would totally try to jump to that window and miss but your cat seems to know what he is doing :) hope he stays safe up there.

Cats usually find the most ridiculous places to sleep. A white cat Maya I know always does te same as your cat: lying on small surfaces several meters above the ground. She's still alive though. Normally they know what they're doing.

Please, Please, PLEASE! Consider putting up a shelf for him. Just a 2x4 for some board, painted white and attached just below the ledge (doesn't look like it might attach to the ledge it self). Much cheaper than an emergency vet bill and worth the risk to life.
